Physics is the study of how things work, from the smallest sub-atomic particles to incomprehensibly large galaxies. A popular choice if you want to become an engineer, planetary scientist or technologist, you'll learn about particles, gravitational fields and thermodynamics.
Practical work in the course is designed to be carried out at home. No laboratory access is required.
Topics include:
Unit 1 - Working as a physicist
Unit 2 - Mechanics
Unit 3 - Electricity
Unit 4 - Materials and vibrations
Unit 5 - Waves and the particle nature of light
Unit 6 - Collisions, circular motion and oscillations
Unit 7 - Gravitational and electric fields
Unit 8 - Magnetic fields and particle physics
Unit 9 - Thermodynamics
Unit 10 - Nuclear decay and space
A GCSE or equivalent in Physics or Double or Triple Science (minimum grade C) and Maths is strongly recommended for this course.
